Wall Street opens lower despite positive data

US stock indices fell on Thursday despite a release of positive data earlier.

 

US unemployment claims fell to 222 thousand in the week ending November 12, down from 226 thousand in the previous reading, and below estimates of 228 thousand.

 

As of 15:35 GMT, Dow Jones fell 0.5%, or 185 points to 33,370, while S&P 500 shed 0.9%, or 37 points to 3,921, as NASDAQ gave up 0.9%, or 99 points to 11,084.
