US stock indices rose on Tuesday as markets continue to follow the pandemic situation in China, the world's second largest economy.

Such protests broke out in China after imposing new restrictions in many areas where Covid 19 has spread once more.

Health authorities reported tens of thousands of new infections in China, which forced new lockdowns  in some cities like Shanghai.

Additionally, authorities noted the first drop in infections numbers in China in a week.

Dow Jones rose 0.1%, or 30 points to 33,881 as of 15:35 GMT, while S&P 500 rose 0.1%, or 7 points to 3,971, as NASDAQ rose 0.2%, or 22 points to 11,071.
