US stocks rise to record highs

US stock indices opened higher on Tuesday, and hit record highs after returning from yesterday's holiday.

 

The US stock and bond markets were closed yesterday in observance of the Presidents' Day holiday.

 

The market remains focused on the ongoing discussions between the White House and the US Congress about the $1.9 trillion stimulus plan to support the US economy from the coronavirus impact.

 

Governments around the world are continuing their efforts to contain the Covid-19 outbreak by distributing more vaccines.

 

As of 14:58 GMT, Dow Jones rose 0.3% or 97 points to 31,555, Nasdaq rose 0.3% or 50 points to 14,145, and S&P 500 rose 0.2% or 10 points to 3,945.
