The main US stock indices opened lower on Tuesday, amid anticipation of quarterly corporate earnings results.

Coca-Cola reported mixed business results yesterday, including lower profits in Q1 2021, but revenues were higher than expected.

This comes amid anticipation of the results of major companies, led by Apple, Microsoft, Tesla, Amazon and Alphabet.

Efforts to contain the Covid-19 pandemic are continuing, as the US company Johnson & Johnson reported $100 million sales of its vaccine during the first quarter.

As for stocks, Dow Jones fell 0.4% or 114 points to 33,963 as of 14:028 GMT, Nasdaq fell 0.1% or 11 points to 13,903, and S&P 500 fell 0.4% or 16 points to 4,153.
