US stocks open higher, Nasdaq hits new record high

The major US stocks indices rose in early trading on Tuesday, as Nasdaq jumped to new record high, ahead of President Donald Trump's brief remarks at the Economic Club of New York later today.

 

Trump is expected provide fresh hints and updates on the progress of the ongoing US-China trade talks, the US President may also address the Democrat-led impeachment inquiry against him in the US House of Representatives.

 

While the Federal Reserve Chairman, Jerome Powell, will testify tomorrow and on Thursday before the Joint Economic Committee in the US House of Representatives about the Fed's monetary policy after its decision to cut the interest rates for the third time this year.

 

As for trading, Dow Jones rose by 0.1% or 28 points to 27,719 as of 15:05 GMT, Nasdaq rose by 0.3% or 25 points to 8,489, and S&P 500 rose by 0.2% or 8 points to 3,095.
