US stocks closed mixed today, to surrender earlier gains amid uncertainty about the US Federal Reserve monetary policy path.
Fed's decision to cut rates by only 25 basis points angered President Trump as he demanded for a deep cut to zero or below.
However, Trump stated that he will not dismiss Chairman Jerome Powell and that his post is safe despite not responding to his demands.
The US Department of Labor revealed today its reading for the unemployment claims, which increased by 2,000 to 208,000 during last week.
In the oil market, WTI rose by 2 cents to close at $58.13 a barrel, with a high of $59.5 and a low of $58.08.
Brent rose 1.3% to $64.40 a barrel, with a high of $65.5 and a low of $63.4.
Dow Jones fell by 0.1% or 52 points to close at 27,094 points, with a high of 27,262 and a low of 27,064.
Nasdaq rose by 0.1% or 5 points to close at 8,183 points, with a high of 8,237 and a low of 8,174.
S&P 500 held at 3,006 points, with a high of 3,021 and a low of 3,003.
