US stocks close lower amid uncertainty about trade talks

US stocks close lower today, on the uncertainty that surrounds the next round of the US-China trade talks.

 

President Trump stressed on the possibility of a trade deal with China and the making of progress in the upcoming round this week.

 

While the market has absorbed the strong jobs data, which revealed that the US economy has created 136,000 new jobs in September, and the unemployment rate declined to 3.5%.

 

Otherwise, President Donald Trump threatened Turkey to destroy its economy if it began military operations against the American-backed Kurdish forces in northern Syria.

 

In the oil market, WTI fell by 0.1% to close at $52.75 a barrel, with an intraday high of $54.06 and a low of $52.5.

 

Brent crude shed 0.1% to $58.35 a barrel, with a high of $59.6 and a low of $58.02.

 

Dow Jones shed 0.3% or 95 points to close at 26,478 points, with a high of 26,655 points and a low of 26,424 points.

 

Nasdaq also lost 0.3% or 26 points to close at 7,956 points, with a session-high of 8,013 points and a low of 7,942 points.

 

S&P 500 fell by 0.4% or 13 points to close at 2,938 points, with a high of 2,959 points and a low of 2,935 points.
