Dow Jones rose slightly today, extending its gains for the fourth straight day, in its longest gaining streak in 8 weeks, while Nasdaq and S&P fell.
The markets are anticipating the European Central Bank (ECB) next meeting on Thursday, which will be followed by the reveal of the banks rate decision, with forecasts of negative rates and quantitative easing measures to support the European economy growth, ahead of the US Fed meeting in the next week.
The markets are also closely following the latest round of the US-China trade talks in the first of October to discuss a trade agreement.
In the oil market, WTI rose by 2.4% to close at $57.85 a barrel (highest close since the end of July), with a high of $58.1 dollars and a low of $56.5.
Brent rose by 1.7% to $62.599 a barrel, with a high of $62.9 and a low of $61.5.
Dow Jones rose by 0.1% or 38 points to close at 26,835 points, with a high of 26,900 and and a low of 26,762.
While Nasdaq fell by 0.2% or 15 points to 8,087, with a high of 8,131 and a low of 8,052.
S&P 500 held at 2,978 points, a high of 2,989 and a low of 2,969.
