US stock indices rose on Monday, lifted by a rebound in the financial and energy sectors, ahead of the upcoming US presidential election debate this week.

The market is anticipating the upcoming US presidential debate between the US President and Republican candidate Donald Trump versus his Democratic rival Joe Biden.

Analysts see that the debate will have more impact on market movements than the US monthly jobs report scheduled on Friday.

Federal Reserve Member Loretta Mester said that the US economy is recovering but it’s still a fragile recovery and requires more support.

To the oil market, WTI October futures at Nymex rose 0.9% to close at $40.60 a barrel, after hitting a day high of $40.7 and a low of $39.7.

Brent November futures rose 1.2% to $42.43 a barrel, with a high of $42.43 and a low of $41.4.

As for stocks, Dow Jones rose 1.5% or 410 points to close at 27,584, after it hit a day high 27,722 and a low 27,362.

Nasdaq rose 1.8% or 204 points to 11,117 points, with a high of 11,120 and a low of 11,019.

S&P 500 rose 1.6% or 53 points to 3,351, with a high of 3,360 and a low of 3,332.
