Japanese markets shut down for system error, China closes for holiday

Asian stocks opened the fourth session of the week higher, with Japan's markets closing down for a system error, the first such in more than a decade, while Chinese markets closed for a national holiday. 

 

Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 0.79%, while South Korea's KOSPI rose 0.86% to 2,327. 

 

New Zealand's NZX 50 rose 0.61% to 11,819, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 rose 1.43% to 5,899.
