Asian stocks open mostly higher with BOJ meeting in focus

Asian stocks opened mixed today but mostly positive, as the Japanese, Chinese, New Zealand and Australian stocks rose in addition to the South Korean Kospi, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng fell, few hours after the US Fed rate cut decision by 25 basis points and ahead of a similar decision by the BOJ later today, with forecasts of further stimulus.

 

The Japanese stocks rose today, as Topix rose by 1.05% or 16.88 points to 1,623.50 points, and Nikkei 225 rose by 1.01% or 222.82 points to 22,183.53.

 

The Chinese stocks rose, as the CSI 300 rose by 0.14% or 5.29 points to 3,915.37, and the Shanghai Composite rose by 0.12% or 3.47 points to 2,989.12.

 

Hong Kong's Hang Seng shed 1.03% or 276.14 points to 26,477.98, while the South Korean Kospi rose by 0.35% or 7.15 points to 2,077.88.

 

To New Zealand's NZX 50, which rose by 0.16% or 16.81 points to 10,791.66, and the Australian S&P/ASX 200 rose by 0.56% or 37.60 point to 6,719.20.
