Asian stocks open mixed

Asian stock indices opened the third session of the week mixed, with Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, and South Korea higher, while China and New Zealand lost ground, as investors price in higher chances of US stimulus in upcoming days. 

 

Japan's TOPEX rose 0.83%, while Nikkei 225 rose 0.43% to 23,668. 

 

China's CSI 300 fell 0.33%, while Shanghai lost 0.35% to 3,316. 

 

Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 0.73%, while South Korea's KOSPI climbed 0.34% to 2,366. 

 

New Zealand's NZX 50 fell 0.30%, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.17% to 6,195.
