Asian stock indices opened the last session of the week mixed with China in particular mixed while Japan, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and South Korea lower, as Australia gained ground.
Earlier New Zealand data showed an index tracking the manufacturing sector up to 58.8 from 56.2.
Earlier Chinese data showed industrial output up 4.8% in July, missing estimates of 5.1%, while retail sales fell 1.1% y/y, as unemployment steadied at 5.7% as expected.
Earlier Japanese data showed the Tertiary Industrial Index up 7.9% in June, compared to a 2.9% drop in May.
Japan's TOPEX inched down 0.05%, while Nikkei 225 slipped 0.05% to 23,238.
China's CSI 300 rose 0.11% to 4,640, while Shanghai slipped 0.16% to 3,315.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng fell 0.13%, while South Korea's KOSPI shed 0.0% to 2,403.
New Zealand's NZX 50 fell 0.27% while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.68% to 6,132.
