Asian stock indices opened the fifth session of the week mixed with China in particular mixed, while Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea higher, as Hong Kong lost ground.
Earlier Japanese data showed services prices rose 0.1%, slowing down from 1.1% in July.
Japan's TOPEX rose 0.43%, while Nikkei 225 climbed 0.48% to 23,198.
China's CSI 300 rose 0.05%, while Shanghai declined 0.24% to 3,215.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng fell 0.21%, while South Korea's KOSPI rose 0.59%.
New Zealand's NZX 50 rose 0.40%, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.96% to 5,945.
