Asia extends gains in tandem with Wall Street

Asian stock indices opened the third session of the week higher on Wednesday in tandem with Wall Street, which marked the best one day performance since 1933 on optimism over the global stimuli measures. 

 

Earlier New Zealand data showed the trade surplus at 594 million New Zealand dollars, compared to a 414 million deficit in January. 

 

The World Health Organization now estimates 16,352 deaths among 376,000 people in 195 countries and territories. 

 

Japan's TOPEX rose 5.23% to 1,402, while Nikkei 225 rallied 5.74% to 19,129. 

 

China's CSI 300 powered up 2.16% to 3,703, while Shanghai added 1.78% to 3,703. 

 

Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 2.12%, as South Korea's KOSPI surged 4.28% to 1,678. 

 

New Zealand's NZX 50 advanced 2.38%, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 added 1.59% to 4,810.
