Powell stressed in a speech yesterday that that the economy will need more support from the Congress to pump more direct fiscal support to support businesses most hit by the coronavirus crisis.
Chicago Fed President Charles Evans said that not providing fiscal support is very dangerous for the US economy and businesses.
As for stocks, Dow Jones rose 0.2% or 50 points to 27,195 as of 15:18 GMT, Nasdaq rose 0.4% or 46 points to 10,825, and S&P 500 rose 0.5% or 15 points to 3,296.
