Wall Street opens mostly higher

US stock indices opened the last session of the week mostly higher with Dow Jones and S&P 500 marking fresh record highs, while NASDAQ lost ground, as markets price in the developing US-China trade dispute as less damaging than initially feared. 

 

Earlier US data showed the flash manufacturing PMI up to 55.6 from 54.7 in August, beating estimates of 55.1, while the services PMI receded to 52.9 from 54.8, missing estimates of 54.9. 

 

Stock Performance 

 

As of 02:35 GMT, Standard and Poor's 500 rose 0.10%, or 2.94 points to 2,933.69, while Dow Jones inched up 0.12%, or 31.20 points to 26,688.18. 

 

Tech-heavy NASDAQ slipped 0.21%, or 16.97 points to 8,011.26.
