US stock indices opened the first session of the week higher after a spate of US data, which showed the JOLTS job openings fell to 6 million jobs from 6.09 million in September, compared to expectations of 6.03 million.

Traders have largely ignored the explosion in New York that hurt several people, after the NYPD announced the arrest of a suspect, while investors now await the Federal Reserve policy meeting tomorrow.

Fed policymakers will unveil their forecasts for three-year inflation, unemployment, growth, and interest rates later this week, as analysts expect them to go ahead of hike rates by 25 basis points in this week's meeting.

As of 04:39 GMT, Standard and Poor's 500 rose 0.16%, or 4.32 points to 2,655.82, while Dow Jones advanced 0.11%, or 27.82 points to 23,356.98.

Tech-heavy NASDAQ added 0.24%, or 16.57 points to 6,856.79.
