US stock indices opened higher today after Democrats and Republicans reached an initial agreement to fund the government and avoid another shutdown.

The deal will fund the government past Friday, the deadline for the current funding agreement.

It's still not clear what to do about funding the border wall with Mexico, which is at the center of the dispute between Trump and Democrats.

Otherwise, US-China trade talks are still ongoing in Beijing with some positive remarks from Washington that raised hopes for a full trade agreement.

As of 15:03 GMT, Dow Jones rose 1% to 25,313, while Nasdaq rallied 1.1% to 7,386, as Standard and Poor's 500 powered up 0.9% to 2,736.
