Wall Street opens at new record highs, led by finance, tech

US stock indices opened the first session of this week at fresh record highs for Dow Jones, Standard and Poor's 500, and NASDAQ, as the earnings season for major American banks and corporations starts in earnest. 

 

Earlier US data showed the Empire State Manufacturing Index rose to 30.2 in October from 24.4 in September, passing expectations of 20.3.

 

As of 03:54 GMT, Standard and Poor's 500 rose 0.08%, or 1.92 points to 2,555.05, while Dow Jones added 0.16%, or 36.71 points to 22,908.43. 

 

Tech-heavy NASDAQ advanced 0.24%, or 15.53 points to 6,621.33.
