U.S. stock indices fell on Wednesday, led lower by the financial, energy sectors, as crude prices tumble to three-week lows, hurting Wall Street today.

U.S. crude fell to a three-week low after a massive inventory buildup last week, hurting energy shares and dragging Wall Street lower.

On the other hand, political concerns continue to hurt global stocks, specially after America banned visitors from seven Muslim-majority countries, and after sanctioning Iran for trying a Ballistic Missile.

Tensions in the markets dampened the risk appetite and underpinned safe havens like gold, with investors pulling out of the stock markets after weak earnings results.

Standard and Poor's 500 fell 0.15%, or 3.46 points to 2,289.62, while Dow Jones shed 0.19%, or 38.66 points to 20,051.63.

Tech-heavy NASDAQ inched down 0.05%, or 2.92 points to 5,677.14.
