US stocks rise on Trump's remarks

US stocks rose on Monday as the trade war concerns eased following President Donald Trump's comments on Huawei, however, Wall Street is heading for a weekly loss.

 

Trump said in a tweet on his official Twitter account that a trade deal could be reached with China to resolve the Huawei dispute.

 

Government data showed that durable goods orders in the US fell 2.1% in April.

 

On the other hand, British Prime Minister Theresa May announced her intention to resign from her post on June 7, noting that she has notified Queen Elizabeth of her resignation.

 

In terms of trading, Dow Jones rose by 0.2% (equivalent to 60 points) to 25549 points, Nasdaq rose 0.4% (32 points) to 7,660 points, while the Standard&Poor's rose by 0.2% (seven points) to 2829 points.
