US stock close mixed ahead of US-China trade deal signing

The major US stock indices were mixed on Tuesday, as the quarterly earnings reports season for Q4 of 2019 kicked off, and hours ahead of the signing of the upcoming phase-one trade pact between the US and China.

 

Chinese Vice Premier Liu He to Washington to attend the signing meeting tomorrow, alongside other high-level personales from both sides..

 

US data revealed today that the CPI rose by 0.2% last month, which was widely expected.

 

To the oil market, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) rose by 0.3% to close at $58.23, with a day high of $58.7 and a low of $57.7.

 

Brent rose 0.4% to $64.49 a barrel, and hit a high of $65.04 and low of $63.9.

 

As for stocks, Dow Jones rose 0.1% or 32 points to close at 28,939, and hit an intraday high 29,054 and a low 28,872.

 

Nasdaq lost 0.2% or 22 points to 9,251 points, with a high of 9,298 and a low of 9,226 points.

 

S&P 500 fell by 0.1% or 5 points to 3,283, with a high of 3,294 and a low of 3,277.
