By the Economies.com editorial desk · Trading platforms, Australia · Last verified 21 October 2026 against pepperstone.com/en-au, the Pepperstone PDS (August 2026) and the ASIC Professional Registers. Average spreads are Pepperstone’s published figures for 1–31 August 2026.
The short answer
If you chart on TradingView, the broker question is whether you can trade from those charts without paying for the privilege. At Pepperstone you can: TradingView is a supported platform on its Razor account, signing up to TradingView is free, and Pepperstone offers subscription upgrades to eligible clients. The trade-off is commission — USD 7 per lot round turn on TradingView against USD 7 on MT5 (charged USD 3.50 per side) and USD 6 on cTrader. Pepperstone is also one of the few Australian brokers running all four mainstream platforms plus its own app.
Capital.com connects the same account to MT4, TradingView and an open REST/WebSocket API, so you can trade from charts or automate. Clients here deal with Capital Com Australia Pty Ltd, licensed by ASIC (AFSL 513393).

CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Trading CFDs is high risk and is not suitable for everyone; consider whether you understand how CFDs work and can afford the risks, and read Capital.com’s PDS and Target Market Determination. Capital Com Australia Pty Ltd, AFSL 513393.
TradingView is where a large share of Australian retail traders already do their analysis, so the natural question is which broker lets them execute there. Seven ASIC-licensed brokers now do, and the differences are in what the integration costs and which account types it covers.
| Broker | TradingView trading | Account required | Commission on TradingView orders |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pepperstone | Yes | Razor only | USD 7 per lot round turn (FX and gold) |
| IC Markets | Yes | cTrader/TradingView Raw | USD 3 per USD 100k per side |
| CMC Markets | Yes (platform is TradingView-compatible) | CFD account | Spread-only; FX Active 0.0025% per transaction |
| IG | Yes | CFD account | Spread-only |
| Vantage | Yes | RAW or Standard | RAW: USD 2.50 per side |
| FP Markets | Yes | Raw only | AUD 3.50 per side |
| Fusion Markets | Yes | Zero or Classic | Zero: USD 2.25 per side |
Every integration lets you trade from TradingView’s free tier; what differs is whether the broker pays for a paid plan. Pepperstone’s TradingView page says signing up is free and offers Essential, Plus or Premium subscriptions to eligible clients, with a three-month version promoted through its Active Trader page. We could not find the exact eligibility threshold on its Australian pages — ask before you count on it.
None of the brokers above charges a platform fee for TradingView. The cost is the normal spread and commission routed through it. At Pepperstone that is USD 7 per lot round turn, the same as MT4 and cTrader’s gold rate and USD 1 more than cTrader’s FX rate; the integration is described as “powered by cTrader”, which explains the similar pricing.
MetaTrader remains the platform for anyone running Expert Advisors, and Pepperstone is one of the larger MetaTrader brokers in Australia. Two changes in 2026 matter. First, Pepperstone withdrew Standard accounts from MT4 on 26 September 2026, so MT4 is now Razor-only with the full USD 7 commission charged on opening a position. Second, MT5 is cheaper in cash-flow terms, because commission is split USD 3.50 on open and USD 3.50 on close, and it carries share CFDs, which MT4 does not.
CompareForexBrokers named Pepperstone Best MT4 forex broker for 2026 on Pepperstone’s own awards page. IC Markets, FP Markets, Vantage and Fusion all run MT4 too. If MT4 matters because of a specific EA, the deciding factors are commission (Pepperstone USD 7 rt; Fusion USD 4.50; Vantage USD 5; IC Markets USD 7) and execution, which no broker documents well enough to separate them on paper.
Pepperstone, IC Markets, CMC, Vantage, FP Markets and Fusion all offer MT5 in Australia. Pepperstone’s edge is breadth on the platform: 1,100-plus share CFDs, 95 ETF CFDs, the crypto index CFDs and the perpetual CFDs are all on MT5. For a pure FX trader the brokers are close; for a multi-asset trader, MT5 at Pepperstone carries more.
For automation, yes — MetaTrader’s EA ecosystem has no equivalent in TradingView, whose alerts can trigger but not place orders without third-party tools. For charting and discretionary trading, TradingView is better and most traders know it. Pepperstone’s answer is to offer both on one account, so you can run an EA on MT5 and trade manually from TradingView without a second broker.
At Pepperstone, not at all in total: USD 7 per lot round turn on both. The difference is timing — MT4 charges it all on opening, TradingView on each side — and the fact that TradingView requires a Razor account. On cTrader the FX round turn is USD 6; on MT5 and the Pepperstone app, USD 3.50 per side.
Yes, and it was one of the first brokers to do so. cTrader at Pepperstone offers Level II depth of market, cTrader Automate for C# cBots, and a 50% Smart Stop Out level. FX commission is USD 6 per lot round turn and gold USD 7. The Pepperstone platforms page lists EAs and automation as available on MT4, MT5, TradingView and cTrader but not on its own app.
Pepperstone, IC Markets, FP Markets and Fusion Markets list cTrader on their Australian sites. CMC, IG, Vantage, eToro and Plus500 do not. If depth of market is central to how you trade, that narrows the field to four.
Published figures are thin. Pepperstone states execution “from 50ms” and a 99.32% fill rate for 1 January to 31 March 2026; IC Markets states an average under 40ms. Neither breaks it out by platform or publishes slippage. Scalpers tend to favour cTrader for the DOM and MT5 for EAs; the broker’s infrastructure matters more than the front end. Pepperstone sponsors a VPS for professional clients trading USD 1 million or more of notional in 60 days, with latency it describes as “as low as 1ms” to its servers.
Run TradingView, MT5 and cTrader side by side on one demo
Pepperstone lets you open up to five demo accounts without a live account — one per platform — with an unlimited virtual balance. Trade the same instrument on each and see which fits before you fund anything.
Open a free Pepperstone demoTrading CFDs and margin FX is risky. It isn’t suitable for everyone and if you are a professional client, you could lose substantially more than your initial investment. Pepperstone Group Limited, AFSL 414530. Consider the PDS and TMD before deciding.
There is no single answer, which is why the brokers that offer several platforms have an advantage. Our framework:
| If you… | Platform | At Pepperstone |
|---|---|---|
| Run Expert Advisors | MT5 (or MT4 for legacy EAs) | Razor or Standard on MT5; Razor only on MT4 |
| Chart on TradingView | TradingView | Razor only; USD 7 rt |
| Trade from the order book | cTrader | Both accounts; USD 6 rt FX |
| Code in C# | cTrader Automate | Both accounts |
| Want one app for everything, on your phone | Pepperstone app | Both accounts; no EAs |
| Trade share CFDs | MT5, cTrader, TradingView, Pepperstone app | Not MT4 |
MT5 and cTrader carry Pepperstone’s full range — 93 FX pairs, 26 indices, 40 commodities, 1,100-plus share CFDs, 95 ETFs, 31 cryptos and the perpetuals. MT4 lacks share CFDs. TradingView carries the Razor range. The Pepperstone app carries everything but cannot run automation.
CMC Markets and IG have invested most in their own platforms, and traders who want built-in pattern recognition and research tend to choose them. Pepperstone’s own web platform and app are competent and fast but are not its selling point; its selling point is that it does not make you use them.
TradingView for charting, MT5 or cTrader for automation — and a broker that offers both on one account. Pepperstone, IC Markets and FP Markets do; add Smart Trader Tools (28 MetaTrader add-ons) at Pepperstone for traders who want correlation, sentiment and session-map tools inside MT4 and MT5.
Reliability is the claim every broker makes and few document. Pepperstone publishes a quarterly fill rate and carries ISO 27001 and SOC 2 badges on its site; IC Markets publishes an average execution time. Our practical advice is to run a demo through an RBA decision and a US payrolls release and watch whether quotes freeze, spreads blow out beyond the underlying market, and stops fill near the trigger.
