Dollar rises marginally after US data

The dollar rose against a basket of major rivals on Wednesday ahead of important statements from Fed Chair Jerome Powell.

Earlier data showed US private sector sector added 127 thousand in November, the lowest since December 2020, missing estimates of 196 thousand, and down from 239 thousand in October.

US economy grew 2.9% in the third quarter, beating estimates of 2.8%, and up from 2.6% in the preliminary reading, and after the economy contracted 0.6% in the second quarter.

US JOLTS job openings fell to 10.33 million shares in October from 10.69 million in the previous reading, above estimates of 10.24 millioin shares.

US pending home sales fell 4.6% in October, while analysts expected a 5.8% drop, accoding to data from the National Association of Realtors.

Investors await an important speech by Fed Chair Jerome Powell on economic outlook later today. 

The dollar index rose 0.1% to 106.9 as of 16:27 GMT, with a session-high at 107.2, and a low at 106.2. 

Aussie

Australian dollar rose against its US counterpart by 0.5% to 0.672. 

It comes after earlier data showed Australia's consumer prices rose 6.9% in October, while analysts expected a 7.6% increase.
