Canada loses jobs in October

At 13:30 GMT, the Canadian economy released its reading for the employment change index, which showed that 1.8K jobs were lost in October, worse than forecasts of creating 14.7K new jobs, and worse than the previous reading of 53.7K jobs. This data is negative for the Canadian dollar.

Trump denies agreeing to remove China tariffs

The US President Donald Trump stated today the US hasn't yet agreed a rollback on China tariffs as the trade talks are still going.

 

Trump said China would like to eliminate the tariffs imposed during the trade war, but his administration will not do a complete roll back.

 

China's Ministry of Commerce stated yesterday they agreed with the US the removal of tariffs on each other's goods, and that the talks are witnessing further progress.

 

The Chinese ministry also added that the "phase 1" of the trade deal between the two sides would be signed within the next few weeks.

 

While Trump also told reporters before leaving the White House today that the trade deal will be signed in the US, after news that signing summit will be in Switzerland or Sweden.

 

Wall Street fell below all-time highs after the comments, but still heading to post weekly gains.

Corn prices continue to fall for 7th straight session

Corn prices tallied the seventh straight drop during today's trading hours, due to the rise of the US crop supplies and weak exports orders ahead of the USDA harvest forecast.

 

The US Department of Agriculture will release today its Weather and Crop Bulletin, which covers maize, soybeans and other crops as well as wheat planting dates affected by weather in Australia and Argentina.

 

The global markets are also currently anticipating the US-China trade talks outcome, as investors are eagerly awaiting details about the potential trade deal, which will lead to Beijing buying more US agriculture products.

 

Several news agencies also reported that Washington and Beijing are moving forward to the gradual removal of tariffs on each other's goods.

 

Moreover, the first phase of the trade deal will likely be signed within the next few weeks.

 

Corn prices fell by 0.3% to $374 per bushel as of 14:29 GMT, with a session high of $375.7 and a low of $373.7.

US consumer confidence improves slightly in November

The University of Michigan US consumer confidence survey tilted higher to 95.7 points in November vs. 95.5 in October, better than forecasts of 95.

 

Which comes amid the uncertainty uncertainty over the details about the US-China trade talks and the possibility for a sustainable trade deal.

 

The survey also showed that current conditions index reading declined to 110.9 points in the same month vs. 113.2, while the economic expectations rose to 85.9 vs. 84.2.
