Bitcoin rose over 3% on Tuesday on track for the second daily profit in a row, carrying on its advance above $10,000 with an eye on $12,000 as risk appetite improves, while the European Union expressed readiness to regulate cryptocurrencies.

At Bitstamp, bitcoin rose $370, or 3.6% to $10,700 from the opening of $10,330, with an intraday high at $10,733, and a low at $10,150.

Bitcoin rallied 7.5% on Monday, the first profit in three days as investment demand climbs in the cryptocurrency market.

The market value of cryptocurrencies rose yesterday by $22 billion to $453 billion, while rising $10 billion today to $463 billion.

Valdis Dombrovskis, president of the Financial Services Commission in the EU said the union is ready to regulate cryptocurrencies if their global risks haven't been dealt properly, calling for closer international inspection of the new business.

The Group of 20 financial ministers and central bank governors are expected to gather in Buenos Aires next March, with cryptocurrencies expected to be one of the main issues discussed there.

Otherwise, Fortune Magazine reported that Goldman Sachs-backed Circle Internet Financial decided to acquire Crypto Exchange Poloniex, the world's largest crypto-token exchanges, in a $400 million deal, one of the largest so far in the cryptocurrency market.
