Palladium falls as dollar edges higher

Palladium futures fell on Tuesday, weighed down by the US dollar rebound against its major counterparts.

 

The Federal Reserve will launch its regular meeting today to discuss the latest developments of the coronavirus crisis and its impact on the US economy, and will reveal its interest rate decision on Wednesday.

 

The central bank is widely expected to keep the interest rate at 0.25% unchanged, as the Fed previously ruled out any rate hikes before 2022.

 

The dollar index rose against a basket of currencies by 0.1% to 93.7 points as of 13:20 GMT, after it hit a high of 94.01 and a low of 93.4.

 

Palladium September futures fell 0.7% to $2,354.1 an ounce as of 13:21 GMT, after hitting a high of $2,419.1 and a low of $2,301.9.

Silver pulls back from 7-year high on profit-taking
