Asian stocks waver ahead of Fed’s meeting

Asian shares wavered on Tuesday, as a result of world markets' different directions, while investors await the Federal Reserve's monetary policy decisions later this week.

 

Yen shook off earlier losses, while dollar stayed near 13-month nadir as corporate earnings results led to more instability in world markets.

 

TOPIX decreased 0.23% or 2.93 points to 1,245.36, while Nikkei 225 declined at 0.13% or 25.56 points to 19,950.11.

 

Chinese CSI 300 dropped 0.10% or 3.67 points to 3,729.80 while Shanghai increased 0.09% or 2.97 points to 3,253.57.

 

Hong Kong's Hang Seng index gained 0.04% or 119.64 points to 26,825.73 while South Korea's KOSPI fell 0.17% or 4.25 points to 2,447.28.

 

New Zealand's NZX 50 advanced 0.31% or 16.07 points to 5,218.66 and finally, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.85% or 48.33 points to 5,736.40.
