Asia sharpens decline on everlasting coronavirus concerns

Asian stock indices opened mixed with Japan in particular with mixed results, while China, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and South Korea down, as more countries continue to tighten lockdowns and shutter businesses to contain the spread of coronavirus. 

 

The global death toll for the virus rose to 14,716 among 339,000 infected cases in 186 countries. 

 

Japan's TOPEX fell 1%, while Nikkei 225 rose 0.49% to 16,633. 

 

China's CSI tumbled 2.30% to 3,596, while Shanghai swooned 1.99% to 2,690. 

 

Hong Kong's Hang Seng tumbled 3.6%, while South Korea's KOSPI slid 4.15% to 1,501. 

 

New Zealand's NZX 50 plummeted 9.54%, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 tumbled 6.03% to 4,526.
