The British pound rose during today's trading after British Prime Minister Theresa May announced her resignation from her post on June 7.
May stressed that the task is not easy and she has tried to achieve consensus among all parties in order to manage the Brexit file with flexibly to exit from the European Union with London having a fair agreement.
May announced her resignation in front of the cameras today, praised her efforts and being the second woman to serve as British Prime Minister after Margaret Thatcher.
Attention will shift to the successor to May in office amid expectations of a victory to Boris Johnson in the elections to be the next British Prime Minister.
This comes in the light of the preparations that Britain is trying to make to negotiate with the European Union to reach a final agreement for the withdrawal from the EU before the deadline on 31 October.
In terms of trading, by 18:38 GMT, British pound rose against dollar by 0.4% to 1.2711, hitting a high of 1.2732 and a low of 1.2647.
