The American Petroleum Institute (API) revealed in preliminary data that US oil inventories fell by 812 thousand barrels last week, while analysts expected a decline of two million barrels.
The data also showed a drop in distillate stocks in America by about 50,000 barrels, while gasoline stocks rose by 1.5 million barrels last week.
This comes ahead of the release of official data by the Energy Information Administration tomorrow amid markets anticipation as they affect the prices of crude.
