The cryptocurrency market performance mixed during today's trading, as Ripple continued to drop, shedding most of its recent gains which been acquired during the recent strong market rally, while Bitcoin stabilized above the $5,000 barrier.
International Monetary Fund director Christine Lagarde warned of the crypto market's damage on the global market and called for tougher regulatory restrictions on Bitcoin and other cryptos.
Lagarde said fluctuations in Bitcoin and all cryptocurrencies could reach other financial markets, which foreshadow risks and need for more regulation on the crypto market.
Investors turned to the US stock market and metals, which pushed them away from other assets such as cryptocurrencies.
In terms of trading, Ripple fell by 1.4% to $0.32 at 20:39 GMT, with a high of $0.33 and a low of $0.32, with its market cap reaching $32.4 billion.
Bitcoin fell 0.1% to $5,052, with the highest at $5,123.6 and the lowest at $4,923.3, with a market cap at $89.1 billion.
