Ripple fell sharply during trading today for a second consecutive session following further negative comments from Bank of England President Mark Carney on the cryptocurrency Libra, which Facebook plans to launch.
Carney said that investors should be protected from the early hours of the Libra launch, taking into account the extent of the risks involved, pointing out that the finance ministers and central bankers of the G7 countries will discuss this issue next week in France.
The US Federal Reserve chairman, Jerome Powell, also warned yesterday of the seriousness of the cryptocurrency, Libra to markets and investors, calling on regulators for further scrutiny.
Since the announcement of Facebook's intention to launch Libra in the first half of next year, cryptocurrencies have attracted investors and jumped to a level not seen since January 2018. But after the warnings, the market quickly lost some gains.
In terms of trade, by 20:51 GMT, Ripple fell by 9.3% to $0.32, with the highest at $0.36 and the lowest at $0.32.
Bitcoin fell by 6.1% to $11061, with the highest at $12,203 and the lowest at $10,959.
