Ethereum climbs for third straight session as Ripple rallies

Ethereum rose on Thursday for the third straight session as Ripple spikes and boosts other cryptocurrencies for the day, however another security hack in Japan weighed on sentiment. 

At Bitstamp, Ethereum rose $3, or 1.4% to $212, with an intraday high at $216, and a low at $206. 

Ethereum closed up 0.5% on Wednesday, the second profit in a row as Ripple expanded wide gains. 

Market value of cryptocurrencies rose $4 billion on Thursday to a total of $204 billion as most cryptocurrencies gain ground. 

Ripple surged to five-week highs today, marking a 37% profit in the last three days alone. 

The profits came as the parent company Ripple Labs prepares to launch a new crypto product next October, and due to the rapid growth of RippleNet. 

RippleNet, a system for facilitating cross-border transactions using blockchain technologies, witnessed rapid expansion in about 40 countries due to its better transparency and speech than other methods. 

Conversely in Japan, the world's second largest crypto market, the Osaka-based Tech Bureau Corp announced its Zaif exchange suffered a loss of 6,000 bitcoins and some others in a recent hack, worth 6.7 billion yen. 

The security breach occurred on September 14, with the perpetrators stealing 4.5 billion yen from live client wallets, in addition to 2.2 billion from company assets.
