Copper loses ground as minerals suffer

Copper prices dipped today as minerals lose ground for the day, carrying on the weakness of yesterday. 

 

Spot Copper slipped 0.5%, or $37 today to $7,176 per tonne. 

 

Main minerals registered losses in the London Exchange today, marking the weakest performance in three months. 

 

Aluminum, copper, Zinc, and Nickel were all amongst the weakest performing minerals, with losses ranging from 0.4% to 0.6%. 

 

Yesterday, all major minerals register an average loss of 0.4%, while copper futures, the most traded futures in the London Exchange in June, fell 0.8% to $8,358 a tonne. 

 

Spot copper prices in the Shanghai Exchange shed 0.4% to 53.290 yuan per tonne.
