University of Michigan consumer sentiment index down in October

The University of Michigan and Thomson Reuters Preliminary sentiment index for October fell to 75.2 from 77.5 in September. Analysts called for a drop to 75.3.

The index for economic conditions rose to 92.8 in October, from 92.6 the month before. The index for consumer expectations dropped to 63.9 from 67.8.

Inflation expectations for a year from October slipped to 2.9 percent from 3.3 percent in September.

Inflation expectations for 5 years dropped to 2.8 percent from 3.0 percent.
