U.S. stock indices rose on Friday as markets await the crucial vote in the House of Representatives on a healthcare bill championed by the Trump administration, underpinning stocks today.
Analysts expect the House to pass the bill, which underpinned stocks amid expectations it will pave the way for other market-friendly bills such as tax cuts and infrastructure spending.
Crude prices rebounded modestly today, buoying energy and oil stocks in an attempt to recover past losses after a steep decline in recent days for crude prices.
As for the dollar, it kept hovering near a seven-week trough against a basket of currencies following mixed U.S. data today.
Standard and Poor's 500 rose 0.31%, or 7.28 points to 2,353.24, while Dow Jones climbed 0.27%, or 56.71 points to 20,713.29.
Tech-heavy NASDAQ jumped 0.67%, or 38.75 points to 5,856.44.
