The Energy Information Administration released its report on US natural gas storage, showing a drawdown of 359 billion cubic feet in the week ending January 5, compared to 206B in the previous reading, while analysts expected a 318B drop.
Total stocks have now fallen to 2.767 trillion cubic feet from 3.126 trillion in the week ending December 29, which is below the total of the same period in 2016 at 3.182 trillion, while also below the five-year average at 3.139 trillion.
