Gold prices weakens ahead Fed meeting

Gold prices eased on Wednesday but kept yesterday`s gains as investors anticipated comments from the Federal Reserve on the possibility of a rate hike this year. Investors are anxiously awaiting the outcome of the Fed`s two-day policy meeting which concludes later today, where policymakers are widely expected to keep their policy on hold till April. On the U.S. economic front, the Commerce Department reported December durable goods orders, which fell by 3.4% last month, compared to expectations for a 0.5% gain. Spot gold fell 0.25% around $1,288 an ounce compared with the opening level at $1,291.
