Asian stocks open the week mostly higher

Asian stocks opened the first session of the week on mixed performance but mostly higher with the Japanese, Chinese and New Zealand's stocks rising, as well as South Korea's Kospi and Hong Kong Hang Sang, while the Australian stocks fell after Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia Philip Lowe said in Canberra that it is not clear yet the impact of the additional monetary easing on the Australian economy.

 

"If everyone is working to facilitate monetary policy, the effect on exchange rates will be futile," said Reserve Bank of Australia Governor Lowe at a panel discussion at the Australian National University Leadership Forum. adding that It is legitimate to ask how the monetary easing will be effective at the Global level , adding that governments should consider financial spending and infrastructure to stimulate economic growth and inflation.

 

Investors are also looking ahead to Tuesday's speech by US Federal Reserve Governor Jerome Powell on economic and monetary policy at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York. while the markets are also looking forward to the upcoming meeting between US President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping By the end of this week during the events of the G20 summit in Japan.

 

President Trump said last Saturday that the United States would impose new economic sanctions on Iran by Monday, hours after he said in an interview with NBC that his country was ready to negotiate with Iran without "preconditions" "Adding that he was not looking for a war with Tehran, despite his warning of "obliteration" if that happened.

 

Japanese stocks saw a rise during today's trading session, with the broader Topix index rising by 0.35% to win 0.29 points, up to the level of 1,546.19, and Nikkei 225 rose 0.08% or 16.74 points down to 21,275.38.

 

With the Chinese stocks rising, as CSI 300 rose by 0.24% or 9.33 points to reach 3,843.27, while the Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.13%, gaining 3.92 points to 3,005.90.

 

Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index gained 0.15% to win 42.52 points up to 28,516.23. South Korea's Kospi Index fell 0.27% to lose 5.69 points, down to 2,131.31.

 

To the New Zealand NZX 50 index, which rose by 0.23% to 23.55 points, reaching 10,294.13. On the other hand, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 index shed 0.12% or 7.78 points to reach 6,643.00.
