The major Asian stock indices opened mixed but mostly higher on Tuesday, with the rise of the Japanese, Chinese, Australian, New Zealand stocks and the South Korean Kospi index, while the Hong Kong's Hang Seng fell, amid cautious optimism among investors about the prospect of Washington and Beijing resolving the trade dispute, and ahead of the Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia Philip Lowe's speech in Sydney.
Japanese stock indices were higher today, with the Topix index rising by 0.46% or 7.85 points to 1,710.81, and Nikkei 225 index rose by 0.60% or 137.93 points to 23,431.74.
Chinese stocks also rose, as the CSI 300 index rose by 0.09% or 3.50 points to 3,881.71, and the Shanghai Composite index rose by 0.03% or 0.83 points to 2,907.00.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 0.05% or 13.34 points to 26,979.70, while South Korea's Kospi rose 0.53% or 11.23 points to 2,134.73.
To Australia's S&P/ASX 200 index, which rose 0.75% or 50.29 points to 6,781.70, and New Zealand's NZX 50 rose by 0.51% or 55.78 points to 11,009.45.
