Asian stock indices opened the third session of the week mixed with China, Australia, and New Zealand higher, while Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea lost ground, amid concerns over the second coronavirus wave.
Earlier Australian data showed consumer prices rose 1.6% in the third quarter, besting estimates of a 1.9% drop, while core prices rose 0.4%.
On a yearly basis, consumer prices rose 0.7% as expected, while core prices rose 1.2%.
The World Health Organization reported 43.34 million global cases of Covid 19 so far, with the death toll standing at 1.157 million.
Japan's TOPEX fell 0.61%, while Nikkei 225 declined 0.32% to 23,410.
China's CSI 300 rose 0.55%, while Shanghai climbed 0.16% to 3,259.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined 0.18%, while South Korea's KOSPI shed 0.18% to 2,326.
New Zealand's NZX 50 rose 0.51%, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 advanced 0.39% to 6,074.
