Asian shares opened with swings, as markets wait for the Federal Reserve's annual Central Banking Symposium in Jackson Hole on Thursday and Friday.

Uncertainty clouded stock markets, especially after the shuffling of several US administration officials, which raised concerns on whether the U.S. administration is capable of pushing new laws to support its agenda, in turn hurting Asian markets.

Japanese shares decreased, as TOPIX fell 0.26% or 3.20 points to 1,226.25, while Nikkei 225 dropped 0.45% or 86.98 points to 19,383.43.

Chinese CSI 300 rose 0.24% or 8.87 points to 3,733.54, while Shanghai gained 0.15% or 4.74 points to 3,273.46.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng advanced 0.39% or 104.86 points to 27,152.43, while South Korea’s KOSPI fell 0.16% or 3.08 points to 2,354.56.

New Zealand’s NZX 50 tumbled 0.13%, or 10.12 points to 7,863.42, and finally Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 decreased 0.42% or 24.11 points to 5,723.00.
