Asian stock open mixed as focus shifts to trade talks

Asian stocks opened mixed today, as the Japanese stocks were mixed, and the Australian, New Zealand stocks and South Korea's Kospi fell, while the Chinese stocks and Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose amid wide anticipation of the high-level round of the US-China trade talks in Washington.

 

The Japanese stocks were mixed today, with the Topix index falling by 0.33% or 5.16 points to 1,576.54, while the Nikkei 225 index rose by 0.15% or 33.10 points to 21,489.48.

 

The Chinese stocks rose, as the CSI 300 rose by 0.14% or 5.56 points to 3,848.00, and the Shanghai Composite index rose by 0.19% or 5.49 points to 2,930.35.

 

Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose by 0.18% or 46.35 points to 25,729.16, while the South Korean Kospi index fell by 0.74% or 15.23 points to 2,031.02.

 

To New Zealand's NZX 50, which fell by 0.49% or 54.13 points to 10,886.73, and the Australian S&P/ASX 200 fell by 0.19% or 12.53 point to 6,534.20.
