Asia opens lower in tandem with Wall Street

Asian stock indices opened the second session of the week lower in tandem with Wall Street on mounting concerns over the second coronavirus wave, while hopes for a US stimulus package before the November elections fade. 

 

UK-EU talks continue in an attempt to reach a trade deal in a few weeks before the final Brexit. 

 

The US reported a new record Covid 19 daily infection rate, with Vice President Mike Pence reporting a positive Covid result. 

 

The World Health Organization reported 42.97 million global coronavirus cases so far, with the death toll standing at 1.152 million. 

 

Japan's TOPEX fell 0.41%, while Nikkei 225 declined 0.28% to 23,428.

 

China's CSI 300 declined 0.19% to 4,682, while Shanghai shed 0.26% to 3,242.

 

Hong Kong's Hang Seng fell 1.09%, while South Korea's KOSPI inched down 0.04% to 2,342. 

 

New Zealand's NZX 50 dropped 1.39%, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 gave up 1.85% to 6,041.
