Wall Street opens mostly lower amid earnings season

US stock indices opened the first session of the week mixed, with Dow Jones and S&P 500 lower while NASDAQ inched up, as the third-quarter earnings season progresses. 

 

Now markets await US GDP data later this week, expected to clock in a slowed down growth rate at 3.3% from 4.2% in the second quarter, while GDP prices are estimated at 2.3%, down from 3.0% in the second quarter. 

 

Stock Performance  

 

As of 02:34 GMT, Standard and Poor's 500 fell 0.40%, or 10.99 points to 2,756.79, while Dow Jones declined 0.43%, or 110.04 points to 25,334.30. 

 

Tech-heavy NASDAQ added 0.06%, or 4.27 points to 6,453.30.
