The major US stock benchmarks fell sharply on Monday, amid concerns over the rising number of coronavirus infections.

The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said he has held an emergency meeting with the British government to discuss imposing more lockdown restrictions due to the rising number of coronavirus infections.

Other countries started reinstating lockdown restrictions due to a second wave of infections, while France did not impose restrictions, despite reporting the largest daily increase in infections since the outbreak.

Meanwhile, the US Congress has not agreed yet on the second relief package to address the coronavirus impact.

As for stocks, Dow Jones fell 2.8% or 790 points to 26,865 as of 15:29 GMT, Nasdaq dropped 2% or 221 points to 10,571, and S&P 500 fell 2.4% or 81 points to 3,238.
