US stocks fell slightly on today's opening session, amid continuing concerns about the trade war and the fate of negotiations between the United States and China.

Moreover, US companies, especially banks, continue to disclose their quarterly results for the second quarter.

US construction permits fell by 6.1% to 1.22 million last month, and housing starts fell by 0.9% to 1.253 million, according to government data.

US President Donald Trump said yesterday that there is still a long way to go before referring to any deal with the Chinese side, pointing to the possibility of imposing more tariffs on imports of Chinese goods worth an additional 325 billion dollars.

In terms of trade, Dow Jones fell by 0.1% (equivalent to 33 points) to 27,302 points, and Nasdaq fell 0.1% (9 points) to 8213 points, while Standard & Poor's fell by 0.2% (7 points) to 2997 points.
