US stocks rose on the first day of the week as the global markets focus shifted towards the G20 summit in Japan on next Friday and Saturday.

The summit will be attended by US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping to discuss ways to resolve the trade disputes between the two countries.

Trump has warned to impose more tariffs on China if the Chinese president didn't attend the G20 summit or if a trade deal is not pursued.

The markets are waiting for a trade deal that removes the already existing constraints and tariffs on imports of Chinese goods worth $200 billion and imports of US goods worth $60 billion.

In terms of trade, Dow Jones industrial average rose by 0.1% (39 points) to 26,758 points. Standard & Poor's rose by one point to 2,951 points, while Nasdaq stabilized at 8,024 Point.
